Julian works in acrylics and oils on high quality deep boxed canvas. He paints a wide variety of subjects in a distinctive style, where strong use of colour and contrast predominate. Using both coarse and fine detail, paint applied by palette knife and brushwork, thickly applied paint and glazes, a variety of finishes are achieved.

Julian has undertaken commissioned portraits, and also worked on a series of famous faces, and a number of nude studies. His wide variety of subject matter extends from wildlife and pet portraits to sailing ships and seascapes, and a favourite series includes city landscapes featuring the beautiful cities of Prague and Venice. Julian has sold paintings from galleries in Kent, and exhibited in local exhibitions

Julian is a Chartered Engineer by profession and has returned to painting in recent years with renewed vigour.
